stylist, sixty (and counting)...about me
I have had a few career changes, but the common thread has been about empowering women. Image consultancy may strike you as frivolous (most of us are not going to be on a magazine cover, and we would probably agree that our culture is unhealthily obsessed with youth and physical perfection). However, how we perceive ourselves through the eyes of others is an important part of how we see ourselves, and self-confidence is the best outfit you can wear. Almost every client I work with finds that feeling good about how you look opens the door into a world of living confidently. With the training and support of Colour Me Beautiful, I offer a complete image service which will help you to look good, feel confident, and be yourself. |
I am passionate about the need to recognise the climate emergency, and the changes we need to make in our behaviour. Shopping less is a good place to start, but not having to compromise individual style, while not damaging the planet is a win for both. My consultations are about having fewer clothes, but more outfits that make you look great, and understanding how to use most of what you already have: if you have to buy, buy well and buy once!
what makes colour me beautiful different?
(for those who are interested) There are 3 aspects considered in all systems of colour analysis:
Years later, when I trained as a consultant with the more flexible system CMB now uses, my palette was defined as clear warm and deep - a combination that doesn't exist in the seasonal system. |
one of my favourite shades - Chinese Blue
(bright, deep, and neither overwhelmingly warm or cool) |
Years on again, my colouring is cooling (it can happen with age as we lose pigment), but my hair has more warmth than my skin. The CMB system has no problem with this - my hair is still dark, and contrasts with my eyes, so I am still Clear and deep. I avoid putting either very warm or very cool colours near my face, and most of the Clear palette still works, as it is not predominantly warm or cool.
It's a transition, but I can still look great while my hair catches up with my skin (and at that point, I may land in a different palette altogether). |
